Previous Environmental Initiatives

Quayclean has worked closely with a number of clients to yield sustainable improvements for the environment.

Quayclean is working in partnership with the management team of the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) to implement an environmental management system.

In partnership with the MSAC team Quayclean has focused on:

  • Reducing landfill waste
  • Recycling water such as the recycling tank that collect back wash from the pool and storm water, is then treated to breakdown the chlorine and used to hose down pool decks and change rooms
  • Water saving devices on toilets
  • Introduction of organic food waste bins to reduce cross contamination of other recyclable waste
  • Introduction of an on-site compactor that allows a significant increase in the percentage of “waste” that is now recycled
  • Reuse of “old” waste bins from MSAC to other sites (rather than landfill)

Quayclean is also supporting the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre with the introduction of environmental improvements including:

  • Reduce landfill waste/recycling
  • Water recycling
  • Chemical monitoring/reduction

Quayclean also supported the team at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games to implement improvements including:

  • Minimize carbon emissions
  • Reduce landfill waste/recycling
  • Water recycling

Quayclean was presented with a Waste Wise certificate by Sustainability of Victoria for complying with waste recycling procedures and reaching recycling targets at the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships.

Quayclean has a clear track record of working with clients to identify and implement initiatives that enhance the environment.
